the 'perfect' day

Image
Perfectionism. A concept. Something that most strive to achieve, but is impossible to reach. So, I ask: what is the perfect day? The simple answer, even though it is pessimistic, is that it doesn’t exist. But we all have our ideals, and concepts that we aspire to achieve to create that ‘perfect’ day. The idea for this post came to me this time last month, when the sun was out daily, I was working on the blog productively, and getting a tan! For about a week this was an absolute dream, I thought to myself ‘is this the perfect day?’ Personally, the perfect day for me is a productive one. I thrive so much better when I’m working and being productive, particularly as it keeps my mental health up, which is unfortunately suffered a lot during this lockdown period. As well as it being productive, also good weather helps. Seeing the sun makes me so much happier, as I can work outside at our table, with a coffee, and then I can top up my tan. Furthermore, the perfect day for me includes

my piercings...

Image
Hello and welcome back or welcome to my blog! Today I’m bringing a post I have wanted to write for such a long time, and has been some time in the making. Piercings are quite a big thing for me personally, and I have quite an extensive amount (currently I’m up to 9 on both ears, as of last Tuesday). I also wanted to write this post to give my reviews (and an added pain scale, 1 being low and 10 being high) to each piercing I have, in case anyone is doubting a piercing. This is something I am so passionate about, so I’m happy I can share this here! Left Ear My left ear is a lot more decorated than my right, as it holds 6 piercings in total. I love the way this ear looks, and it has taken a good year and a half to build it up. As I have my first and second lobe piercings on both ears, I will talk about all of my cartilage piercings on this ear. All of my helix/cartilage piercings were done locally at a piercing studio (which I shall not name for security reasons), and the majority

15 things i've learned from 15 years of education...

Image
yes this is a bean bag on my head I have been in education for 15 years now, and its been one hell of a ride, but it has taught me a lot of lessons about who I am and what I want from life, as well as the literal lessons I took part in! I am still continuing on into further education for at least 3, if not 4 years when I attend university come September. Looking back on my education, I have loved and hated it at parts, but I wouldn’t have changed a thing. And I’ve learnt a lot… lesson one- you can’t always be perfect Perfectionism is a concept I have longed for, for the entirety of my education, and I’ve learned, I can’t have that. I am a perfectionist and will work my ass off to get what I want, but it can’t be perfect. Nothing is perfect. lesson two- overworking only makes things worse This was one I started to realise in my GCSEs and Sixth Form. I overworked to the point I made myself ill, or have a mental breakdown, or both. It was my worst time during GCSEs and A-Levels, a

finding myself... (+ how you can find yourself)

Image
Hello and welcome to or welcome back to the blog! This is odd posting on a Sunday (I’m currently at work) but the reason behind this is I’m working with the lovely Keeley on a post all about self-love and finding yourself. Once you have finished reading this post, go and check out Keeley’s post! She is a very talented and hard-working girl and deserves all the support! I will link her post and her blog site at the end of this post, along with her Instagram 😊 Finding yourself is a process . It can’t just happen overnight. It takes time and effort and energy. I still believe I’m in the process, but I have a few things I have noticed I’ve done that have helped me to find more of who I am and what I love. The first is to find things I am passionate about. For example, I’m a geek (I’ll happily admit that) and I do like working and education, so much so that I like writing about it on this blog, to help others. I love being productive and feel bad some days when I’m not as productive

ootd: jumping on the cycling shorts trend

Image
Hey, welcome back or welcome to my blog! I am an avid lover of fashion, and I have been switching up my style recently, and after investing in a few new pieces, as well as receiving a load of hand me downs about a month ago now, I’m loving my new style. I am trying to venture out a lot more and have been loving it! Layering, patterns and wide leg trousers seem to be my favourites, but I’m getting off track now. Today I’m here with an ootd post, one that features an item I never thought I’d wear, and as a matter of fact, now love. Cycling shorts are the key with this outfit. I just have a plain black pair on, from Primark, that I am going to invest in for a longgggg time! These are an XS on me, and fit really well! I also own a grey pair, but I really want to buy more. There was a time where I said ‘I’d never wear cycling shorts, they look awful’. But times have changed and I am now loving it! I paired these shorts with one of my favourite tops from Bershka, I feel like I belong on

why it's important to exercise on your period...

Image
I know so many girls and women who are sceptical of doing exercise during ‘that time of the month’, and I used to be one of them. I hated going to dance or doing PE at school one week per month for this reason, but recently since starting exercise again, I have found it is actually so important to do, and there are many reasons why! I am very open on the topic of periods and the menstrual cycle, and if you don’t feel comfortable reading about this, then I would recommend to not continue reading! First and foremost, exercise is so good for the endorphin release . Endorphins are a group of hormones that are secreted in the brain and nervous system that essentially make you feel happy. During your period, you can feel groggy, upset, and you can be more pessimistic than optimistic, so by doing exercise, it helps to improve your mood . I’m not just saying this to encourage you either, there is research to support this! By increasing your mood, you are decreasing depression levels which c

my top 5 music picks!

Image
It’s no secret that I have a BIG love for music: I’m always on the hunt for new songs and am busy making new playlists in my spare time! I listen to music while doing a lot of things in life (even writing this post!) and I like it as an escape from everything 😊 So today I’m here with my current favourites: I really struggled narrowing this down to 5 songs, and I changed my mind a lot, which shows how many songs I really do like! pick no.1- i don’t want your money (ed sheeran ft. her) First, a pick from one of my vinyl’s: when I bought the Collaborations Project, I really only knew the popular songs plus a couple that I fell in love with straight away! So, listening to this album really opened my eyes to a few new songs and there is one side of the vinyl that features 4 songs that I could listen to all day, this being the favourite of the 4. Ed Sheeran may be a bit overrated but he really does make some good music, and he got some amazing artists for this album! pick no.2- midni

how to pick the perfect university/course!

Image
I’m back after a week off (and I’ve thoroughly missed blogging I can tell you), due to participating in a summer school in preparation for university in September! I thought this post couldn’t come at a better time as it goes up, I would have just finished the preparation, so my mind is focused on all things university! This thought takes me back to this time last year, I was preparing for my first summer school, which I attended in Nottingham (read about it here), as well as collecting my thoughts over the 3 open days I went on in June. Looking back, it was a big decision and it can be very overwhelming (I have definitely felt this, especially before my first open day), so I’m here to share my wisdom (if you can call it that!) and help those who are currently looking into universities for next September, or even in future years! Choosing the perfect university and course are both super important, as you are going to spend 3 years (or more, depending on the degree) in the university
